Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS)

Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS)

  • The Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) was introduced by the Canadian Study of Health and Aging (CSHA) in 2005 as a way to summarize the overall level of fitness or frailty of an older adult after they'd been evaluated by an experienced clinician.
  • It was reviewed in 2020 and minor changes were made to the level descriptions and labels.
  • Guidance and training information is available on the website along with a classification tree to help with scoring.
